Abstrakt:
The author of the paper analyzes Polish initial consonant sequences using the standard Government Phonology approach and a strict CV version of the standard Government Phonology. According to the author the CV version proves more elegant and economical. The second part of the paper is devoted to the so-called trapped sonorants. The author attempts to resolve their problematic character by representing them as left-branching structures. (JB)
